Sometimes one needs to go through a little bit of unknown into life to learn and experience exciting things. Although this 'unknown' may not be exciting for some, it is a new way of approaching a journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
Juice Cleanse + Family
Oh, you bet ya. You read correctly. Throughout the next three day, my beloved family (minus my brother and taking his place is my uncle) is participating in a 3-Day Organic Juice Cleanse, to start fresh and to step out of the norm. But first, let me give a little back story on how all of this came into play.
Recently I just joined the 86 Cold Press Team. I had heard many wonderful statements about the business itself and the delicious juices AND now I am fortunate enough to have such a great group of coworkers, and not to mention the efficient, always helpful boss! 86 Cold Press is a chic little shop located in the heart of Wichita. Surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, and nightlife, this juice shop provides a unique hangout spot and let's not forget to mention the wonderful Instagram shots one can get there! The primary focus of the shop is providing sustainability, education, and using organic products. I would highly
encourage checking out their beautifully designed website!
Now back to this "cleanse".
Learning the steps behind the business and the creation of juices has sparked my interest of learning more! Already I have enjoyed the learning process, and can not wait to continue to hear about all the benefits that each item that is added to the juices provides for our body. Naturally, I come home after work, and express all of the new and exciting concepts to my parents. While explaining the cleanse that is offer, my Dad so willingly said that would be something he would like to give a shot at! There begun the trickle affect of my mother, uncle, and myself joining the team! This would be a great opportunity not only to give our bodies a boost, but also learn about the importance of what enters our bodies.
I thought it would be intriguing to capture some thoughts on what the participates of this 3-Day Cleanse had to say! So logically, everyday there will be a JUICE CLEANSE UPDATE! yay!
[ March 27th, 2017 (Day Before Cleanse) ]
Father's Thoughts: "I am doing this to flush out the impurities in my system. The foods in which we consume tend to have many preservatives, so this is a way to simply have a fresh start again! It will be interesting to see the outcome of this juice cleanse in comparison to others."
Mother's Thoughts: "Well my daughter gets me into weird things all the time, so I tend to not think about it anymore. I am just here along for the ride, and of course to support both my husband and daughter. Curious to see how all of this will work.
[ March 28th, 2017 (Day One of Cleanse) ]
Father:
Thoughts- "At first it was an adjustment with the taste. The biggest challenge was drinking the vegetables instead of the actual action of chewing. When I first went into this, I thought I was going to have hunger pains, but the way the juice intervals are set up, carries over well to the next juice. Unfortunately the spices in a few of them took me by surprise, and didn't set too well, but for future time I will just ask without. In my first day I have noticed that I am expelling more liquid out of my system which has lead to less swelling in my legs. (which has been a major struggle) I would encourage people that are heavy set or are used to eating solid food to cut up and apple or have some carrots along with some of the juices. This does not affect the cleanse in anyway, just helps the process. If you can get through Day 1 and remind yourself that this is for yourself and bettering one's health, Day 2 & 3 will be much easier in maintaining the final goal.
Favorite Juice- Almond Power
Mother:
Thoughts- "It hasn't been quite as horrid as I thought, but some of the ingredients in the juices have not been ones I am used to consuming. Today was my baking day, so it was difficult not eating the cake scraps. Surprisingly, I am not worn out like I tend to be by the end of a long baking day. No, I do not want to go run a race, but I am not dead tired. I am curious on how my body will react to another day with only liquidy foods. Here goes Day #2."
Favorite Juice- Renew
Myself:
Thoughts- I went into this cleanse thinking it would be a breeze, but it has taken me by surprise. This past month I have already cut out processed foods from my daily diet, so I thought this would not be a challenge. All I am craving right now is a handful of almonds. That is always my go to any time of the day, so the fact that it is no longer an outlet for my hunger saddens me. So let's set aside the thought of almonds and think about the juices. It has been a challenge keeping up with the "correct" juice time (I enjoy sipping through a bendy straw). So I tend to find myself two juices behind and needing to catch up with both of my parents who send me "juice hour updates". Overall, if I let the thought of almonds disappear from my head, all is fine. Looking forward to see how Day 2 goes, but again just ecstatic that my parents are doing this as well!
Favorite Juice- Activated Lemonade
(So a quick summary)
----> 6 juices a day in place of meals, for three days.
Nearing the end of Day 1, we still have two long days to go BUT it is enjoyable to have my family doing it with me. Although this isn't the "normal" family bonding, it is encouraging us to try new things, and to support each other in the pathway to a healthier life! Stay tuned for the Day Two post coming shortly. Let's see how the emotions are and if we are all longing to starting chewing food again!
Until then...
Go Check out 86 Cold Press! It makes for a fun afternoon with friends or family, and the weather looks like it will be pretty deary the next few days, so maybe the 'Sunshine' juice will brighten up your day!
