Another Year under the Belt

Sarah is ----->

228 Months

>Is fully potty trained

>Enjoys licking the spatula

>Randomly flys to foreign countries

>Dresses in matching ensembles

AND

>Currently relearning the English Language

Following the recent trend of the new mothers today, I thought I would make my own "month" board. If you are unsure what that is, every month after a baby is born, mothers make cutesy posters, chalkboards, or simply anything to write on. These month boards typically contain the number of months, weight/height, and current enjoyments or skills that their child has. While my board does not contain my weight and height, I made the calculations, and my month board racks up to be 228 MONTHS. (but hey, that is not as bad as the 696 months my father has. Love you Dad.)

Anyone that truly knows me, knows how much I cherish birthdays. I love making treats for others, and love surprising love ones on THEIR day. It is very rewarding for me to participate in their birthday and add a little..or a lot of sparkle. While I no longer have extravagant birthday parties always put together by my creative mother, I am using this time to reflect on this past year of age.

Oh I know... roll your eyes...more of this weird Sarah reflection time.

Transitions were a large part of my year.

-New Country

-New Language

-New Friends

-Leaving Loved ones behind

-Starting College

-Adjustment back to the "normal" life

-New Eating Habits

All of these transitions have drastically changed my point of view on life and who I am and what I want to become. I dream big, but I realize that there is hardship that goes with that. There are days where I long for the walks home from elementary school with my friends or nights where I just wish I could hear my host brother and sister banging on my bedroom door. I do not view this as negative. I view this as more transitions, more things to overcome, AND lastly the adventures of adding another year.

In this past year I have learned that:

Sarah loves Spanish Rap Music, eating octopus, the sound of waves and the unknown.

But what continues to grow in her life is:

Unexplainable love for her family.

Relationship with The Lord.

Ambitious Dreams

and of course love for all things SWEET!

While this is another year to be put into the book that God has granted me with, let this upcoming year be one that is full of laughter, love, health, and an eye that sees the beauty in this world.

Here's to 19 years and many more challenges, opportunities, and adventures! Blessings be to all.
